Busy Times, Exciting Competitions and Visiting our Sponsored Riders
Firstly, we hope that you have noticed our new website design?! We are really pleased with the final outcome and would highly recommend Hotshot Creative, a local based company in Ashbourne, for any of your website or design enquires- Thankyou Hotshot Creative! http://www.hotshotcreative.co.uk/
We have joined forces with Equine Speedskip for our latest competition; the lovely people have given us three Equine Speedskips to give away! The winners will be drawn on 1st March so hurry and enter!
Visiting Bliss Retailers
The office has been so busy since Christmas that I have not had time to update our blog, although we have been catching up with our sponsored riders and our customers recently. Last night I enjoyed being part of an open evening at Equine Mania where myself and Caroline from Baileys Horse Feeds gave what we hope was an entertaining talk about both the respective products and companies that we work for.
Sponsored Riders Update
One of the perks of my job is to meet and work alongside some very talented riders who we sponsor, and this month I have managed to visit both Ruth Edge and Maddy Moffett’s yards to have a chat with them about their aims and ambitions for 2013:
I last visited Ruth Edge when she had just moved into her new yard at Foston and couldn’t believe the transformation that has taken place since then. The yard looks fantastic, with a new ménage and horse walker (and stables with lovely beds of Bliss); Team Edge has been very busy! Ruth has got a hectic season planned so we look forward to watching her throughout the year and wish her great success! Ruth is extremely positive about the upcoming season- “Thanks to our new location we have an exciting team of horses for the 2013 season and we are looking forward to see how the 2013 season unfolds.”
I regularly visit Maddy’s yard as she has the somewhat undesirable task of getting myself and my huge Irish Draught tank ‘Blue’ into shape. After our latest schooling session (when I was the colour of a postbox!) we managed to have a chat about Maddy’s plans for 2013- “I want to continue to help others reach their aims and ambitions with their horses, and also hope to improve myself with regular training.”
Maddy has a new addition to her yard called Harley- “Harley will be five this year, and is a liver chestnut, 16.3hh, gelding. He is Irish bred by Harlequin du Carel. He is very ‘green’ still, but seems to enjoy work and is coming along nicely. I am bringing him on slowly as he is a little weak at the moment and needs to strengthen up before a lot is asked of him, so is hacking out with his nanny ‘William’, who is fabulous at helping young horses settle and get used to strange sights, sounds and traffic! He is doing a bit in the school too learning the basics, but is yet to jump – hopefully we will give that a go very soon! We will start taking him to friends’ arenas soon to get him used to going out and about, but there is no fixed time scale for anything at the moment. My personal aims are to start competing Harley, possibly in age classes if he progresses well enough. I am also hoping to find another horse to bring on alongside him. I will be competing some other horses at the start of the season, and am looking forward to that.”
Harley when he first arrived at Maddy’s yard
I am looking forward to see how Maddy and Harley get on this season and wish them the best of luck!
